ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Hey there and welcome to Village Circle Counselling.  I wanted to create a safe space for women where we could support each other through the many challenges and transitions of life. Women are busier than ever, and so more than ever, we need to access supportive environments where we are able to explore our hurts, address our challenges, heal ourselves and refine our health and well-being toolkits-- all on our way to living the lives that we want for ourselves. But it takes a village!

What are my qualifications? I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Relations from Concordia University, a Master of Social Work degree from McGill University and I am currently a licensed and Registered Social Worker (RSW) in Ontario. I am also a PhD(c) with a research background in equity, education and access to services/resources. I have supported women and families in clinical and community settings from diverse backgrounds and various socio-economic configurations for over a decade.  I have seen how finances can be a barrier to access to services and I wanted to make a difference.

I am a wife to a wonderful partner and mother 5 amazing children (2 step children and 3 biological children).  Juggling the various aspects of my life has not always been easy and that's why I am so grateful for all those who have supported me along the way. I have stood on the shoulders of many resilient and wonderful people who have fought for and beside me when life felt impossible.   I recognize that I wouldn't have been able to get to where I am today without the support of my village.

Village Circle Counselling was created to become a part of your village. I recognize that life can be an imperfectly-beautiful journey and I willingly offer my shoulders to you. I will fight for and beside you when life feels impossible. The goal of Village Circle Counselling is to help you to rediscover the freedom that enables you to live what you consider to be a full, vibrant life.  It would be an honour and privilege to contribute to your path to wellness and support you toward accomplishing the things that you have always wanted for yourself.

Wishing you health, wellness and peace.

Many Blessings,

Karima Kinock-Quamina, BA, MSW, RSW, PhD(c)
